Day 3: hanging out in Moab

June 2, 2015

First – breakfast at a very cute & very crowded cafe. Moderately stressful. Or maybe more than that.

Isaac tried to get away with having only jam for breakfast.

Then, a scenic drive.

To dead horse state park.

We sat on the deck overlooking the Colorado river.

Isaac took lots of photos of Flo. She is his muse.

Lunchtime picnic

Back at the pool for the rest of the afternoon!

Day 2: Grand Junction to Moab, UT

June 2, 2015

Breakfast at McDonald’s – mom loves the “senior coffee” and Isaac loves pretty much everything about that place. I was displeased with my pancakes with fake syrup and fake butter… Sticking to hashbrowns next time!

A short 1:45 minute drive and we arrived in Moab, UT!

We drove straight in to Arches National Park, where we ate our picnic lunch.

Our favorite spot in Arches is this shady natural sandbox. So cool!! Can you see Flo & I?

Mom found a nice rock to sit on.

Planning our route.

Back at Motel 6 there was a really nice pool – very fun!

Bathing beauties

Couldn’t stop swimming to eat his pizza. We got delivery poolside. Isaac surfaced to take bites like an Orca at Seaworld!

Flo loves water – mom fed her like a baby bird

Longmont,CO to Grand Junction CO

May 31, 2015

A fun and beautiful first day. Lots of stops, slow progress, but we had fun the whole way!

Heading out at 9am, perfectly timed with Flo’s nap.

One hour down the road, our first stop (due to crying baby). Lookout Mountain.

Isaac is a photographer too!

Next we made it one and a half more hours, then stopped for lunch.

Such a beautiful spot for a picnic, and perfect weather!

Isaac started a rock collection.

Later we stopped again along the white river.

We finally arrived in Grand Junction around 6 o’clock in the evening. Yay!

Road Trip!

May 30, 2015

I’m going to post about our two week road trip from Colorado to California here! Hi grandma! 🙂

Yesterday was spent packing frantically…

And then this morning a certain someone woke up much earlier than planned!!

More sun catchers

Now were making sun catchers using melted beads!

Paper airplane mania!

November 21, 2013

We have been making paper airplanes like crazy these past two days!

Here Isaac lines up all of our paper airplanes for display:

Here they all are!  From left to right we’ve got The Loop de Loop, The Fastest, The Fastest 2, The Dulcie, The High Glider, and The Eagle.

My favorite is the High Glider & the Loop de Loop. Isaac’s favorite is The Fastest.

Here he is, showing off his favorite!

And here’s one of my favorites, the Loop de Loop. I’m so impressed, I’ve never made such a cool paper airplane before!

We’ve been really in to this new art project, called Melty Crayons. We learned how to do it here, from this awesome kid friendly art project blog The Artful Parent.

All you do is heat up a baking sheet in the oven, then lay a sheet of paper over it (while it is still hot) and draw on the paper with crayons. The heat from the baking sheet causes the crayons to melt as you draw and the end result is a sort of sun-catcher. Very fun!
