Devil’s Backbone Hike

September 29, 2013

Today was a beautiful sunny crisp almost-fall day, so we decided to do a little hike.  We chose Devil’s Backbone, which is an easy 2 mile hike just west of Loveland.  It was gorgeous!

Here’s the trailhead.  Fall colors are just starting to turn!

Picnic Table Dudes.  This area would be a really lovely place to have a picnic sometime, by the way.

Running ahead to cross this foot bridge.

Our first glimpse of Devil’s Backbone!

Climbing on up.

Isaac returns the trail map to Jamie’s back pocket. LOL.

Such a beautiful day!  You can see why this rock formation is called Devil’s Backbone.  The rocks jut out on the top of this hill and form a straight line – just like a backbone – for quite some distance.

Just drinking some water on the trail.

And carrying on

Look how blue the sky is!!  And Jamie continues his streak of balancing Isaac on tall posts.

Here’s the Keyhole, which you can walk through and enjoy the views to the west.

Headed back to the car, enjoying more blue skies and beautiful cloud formations!
