Spring is coming. I hope.

February 20, 2012

It snowed another 1-2” inches last night! Boo! I’m sick of winter.  It is supposed to be in the 40s all week so maybe it’ll disappear soon.

I’m getting so excited for spring and summer.  Here are our plans:

  • We’re building a backyard patio for outdoor dining, fire making, coffee sipping, etc.  I can’t wait to use it!
  • We’re planning to get a hiking backpack (the Deuter Kid Comfort 3 is the one we’ve got our eyes on…just waiting for the REI half yearly sale in March).
  • I got a book on hiking the front range, and we can’t wait to get out and see Colorado, which we really haven’t done much of yet.  I plan for Jamie to carry Isaac around.  It’s not much different from how he used to carry multiple gallons of water for extra weight when he was training for Rainier, so I don’t expect to hear any complaining! Smile
  • We have also resolved to do some tent camping with Isaac.  We’ll start off in the backyard and then move on from there.  Isaac is very excited about tent camping – we’ve tested out the tents at REI and he loves to pretend-sleep in them.  He is intrigued by the idea of a campfire, cooking hot dogs and smores over the fire, and he is especially excited about the possibility that we might hear an owl saying “whooo! whoo! Whooo cooked for youuuu!” at night.
  • We are also going to do some longer bicycle trips this summer with Isaac.  I’m hoping for an overnight trip via bicycle.

“whooo! whoo! Whooo cooked for youuuu!” Made me laugh out loud. I remember our old neighbor from Mora, Vic Nistler telling you kids that story. I laughed so hard because now there was another person telling you kids, not just your dad, that people and animals could talk to each other. May God bless Vic.
    Peace & Love,
    Pops
