Isaac has been having a terrible time with naps for the past 5 days or so.  It is driving us all slowly insane.

He goes down at his usual nap time (11), acts tired, says he wants to go to sleep, etc.  The minute his back hits the crib he starts screaming.  Oh and he screams “Mama! Dada! Mama! Dada!!!!” now which makes it even worse.  He is happy to keep up this screaming for a full hour.

After an hour I get him out of his crib.  We go about our day.  Then around 5pm he passes out.  His eyes start rolling around in his head and you can NOT keep him awake no matter what you do.

Exhibit A:

passed out baby

We’ve tried letting him take a little catnap and then waking him back up to eat dinner but that hasn’t worked (he doesn’t want to wake back up). Then when he goes to bed he wakes up crying around midnight for an hour, probably because he did too much sleeping and weird hours during the day!

I am going to try forcing him to wait to take his nap later in the day…we’re going to try to make it to noon today.  We started this shifting back of the nap yesterday and I think it might be working…

We had to start putting Madden down later in the day. He now naps at 1:30 and sleeps a solid 2 hours since we switched his schedule AND we have a happier little guy in the evening! Good luck!

Sylvie refused to nap on the plane yesterday! She’s too used to her crib and couldn’t get comfortable, I think. But we had a successful one hour and fifteen minute nap today. Phew!
