Friday Night Grill Out

This is what we did on Friday night!

Stephen came over and we had a backyard dinner party.  Once again, we’re trying to cram more summer activities into our schedule before it is too late.  The dinner party was so much fun: we had grilled chicken, corn on the cob, and tomato, basil, fresh mozzarella salad.

For dessert we had wine and cheese.

I met with Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy earlier in the week about Rocware, and while I was there I picked up two of their artisan cheeses to sample:

  • Red Cloud is a small 7 0z disc of washed rind raw milk goat’s cheese.  It was firm, very pungent and almost barn smelling…but delicious!
  • Haystack Peak is a pyramid shaped cheese covered in a bloomy rind (like brie).  This one was soft, creamy, and mild.

They were both very different from most cheeses I’ve ever tried – maybe because they’re made from goat’s milk rather than cow?  Anyways – it was fun!
