Baby Eczema

May 27, 2010

The verdict at the Dr office yesterday is that Isaac has a mild case of eczema.  Apparently it is very common here in Colorado and the Dr thinks he may have developed it because he moved from a wet place like Seattle to a dry place like here.  She also thought I should stop using the scented dryer sheets as they could have triggered the outbreak as well.

She gave us some unscented lotion to use on him each day.  And that’s it!  Hopefully it’ll clear up so we don’t have to start thinking about food intolerances, etc.

I have my first Pilates class tonight!  Wish me luck…

Hey, Sarah, I got the link to your blog from Facebook and love reading about all your adventures!

Rowan has had eczema her entire life, and it really isn’t too terrible to deal with. There may be some food issues, but I wouldn’t even worry about that so much. Really, as long as it’s not bugging Isaac, then it is probably okay. We just use hydrocortisone to treat the really bad spots, but mostly make sure that her skin never gets too dry. Unscented lotion will probably do the trick.

Oh GOOD thanks for the vote of confidence Erin! I really don’t want to have to worry about diet, so that is good to hear. And good to hear from you – I always check in on your facebook page to see the cute pics of Rowan. I can’t believe how grown up she already is! Do you have a blog these days?

Emma used to get a rash from Bounce dryer sheets. We changed to Snuggle and no rash.
