Summer Plans Update

April 1, 2012

Our patio is finished! I need to take a picture.  We LOVE it.

We bought the Deuter Kid Comfort hiking backpack with our REI coupon & dividends, and went on our first short (3 or 4 miles I think) hike on Saturday.  It was so fun, and we were able to see something new that we weren’t previously able to access with a baby stroller.

We set up our tent in the backyard to be sure everything is still in working order.  We’ve discovered that we’ll need to get one more sleeping mat, and a kids’ sized sleeping bag in order to camp.  We have not slept in it, I think we’ll wait until we’re actually camping to do that.  Isaac becomes extremely excited and hyper upon entering the tent…this should be interesting…

We’ve committed to do a camping trip with some friends.  Over Memorial Day weekend we’ll experience beautiful Fruita, CO.

We completed our first longish bike ride last week.  Dulcie, Isaac, Sylvie and I rode the LoBo bike trail from here to Niwot.  I carried both kids (70 lbs or so?!?!?) and the trip was a huge success!  We might make a weekly thing of it.

Here are the kids running around during a potty break on the trail. I’ve got more pics I’ll post later this week.

Other things we want to do this summer:

  • Bicycle through wineries in the Palisade area of CO.  Check out this NY Times article about it.  sounds so fun!
  • Ride the bike path from Frisco to Vail.  The ride to the summit is 24 miles and 1550′.  Spend the night in Vail, then ride back to Frisco the next day.
